The Global Peace Games marked this week-end in Praia

The Global Peace Games, scheduled this weekend, November 08, in Praia, and S. Vicente, had, on average, a good assistance from schools and children that made this event somethin more than a simple games. It also had a support in donations, by the multinational Coca-Cola. The various schools of EBI (Basic Level Integrated Schools) did, early, a march for the peace, as part of International Day of Peace, displaying various slogans, with calls for peace and understanding.

Certainly, the event still does not have the dimension it should have, given the limited membership and understanding of civil society and families related to their importance, but it must be underlined that the recognition of the Global Peace Games is becoming a reality in Cape Verde. And that is due in part to the support of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Cape Verde, with which our organization recently signed a strong partnership, but also 'cause the hard work of clarifying the civil society about the good activities carried out over the years by SOS in Cape Verde.

The solemn act was the presence of Delegate at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Mrs. Graça Gomes, who gave a speech in which it became clear that this government will not let the Games fall in the next years. The SOS responsible of the Global Peace Games, Mr. Victor Constantino endorsed in his speech the importance of this game in the creation of fair play spirit and essence of education in the spirit of peace for a future generation: «... to protect these children in their growth, in order to not to be punished, in the future, 'cause they not having been taught about acts and precepts right to a healthy social life».
