SOS Cape Verde participates in election of the new president of SOS Kinderdorf

The Acting President of the Foundation of SOS Children's Villages Cape Verde, Mrs Luísa Lobo and the National Director of SOS Children's Villages Cape Verde, Mr Dionísio Simões Pereira, participated from 21 to 23 June in the historical election of the newly elected President of SOS Kinderdorf International, Mr Siddhartha Kaul, held in Innsbruck, Austria. The election was marked by the promise of everyone present to reach 1 million children by 2020.

22/06/2012 – The newly elected President of SOS Children’s Villages International, Siddhartha Kaul, has outlined an ambitious plan that provides a loving home for one million at-risk children.

“The global economic downturn has impacted on the organisation, however the plight of children across the world is not limited to economic matters,” said Mr Kaul. Speaking after his election at the General Assembly of SOS Children’s Village International, President Siddhartha Kaul, 57, also demonstrated the scale of his commitment to the federation of 133 countries and territories.

A crise económica mundial teve um impacto sobre a organização, no entanto, a situação das crianças em todo o mundo não se limita às questões económicas ", disse Kaul. Falando após a sua eleição na Assembleia Geral das Aldeias Infantis SOS Internacional, que decorreu na Áustria, o presidente Siddhartha Kaul, 57 anos, também demonstrou a escala do seu compromisso com a federação de 133 países e territórios.

SOS Cape Verde organise Sponsors’ Gala SOS

SOS Children’s Villages Cape Verde organise in the evening of 15 of June, in the National Auditorium, Mr Jorge Barbosa, the Cultural Sponsors’ Gala SOS 2012 as a way to thank the SOS Children’s Villages sponsors, partners and friends, whom have been cooperate with the organisation, and on the other hand, to do the kick-start of sponsorship campaign at the national level.

Having artists such as Mr Mirri Lobo, Mr Uziel Sança, Mr Tó Alves, Mr “Bob”, the choral group of SOS Children’s Village São Domingos there were good reasons to assist to a wonderful concert. The baseband composed by the artists: Mr Kim Alves (keyboard), Mr Kaku (guitar), Mr Wilson (bass) e Mr Jorge (percussion) pushed forward for the great performance of the concert for the 500 people who were assisting to the concert.

SOS Cabo Verde realiza Gala Padrinho SOS

As Aldeias Infantis SOS Cabo Verde realizaram na tarde do dia 15 de Junho, no Auditório Nacional Jorge Barbosa, a Gala Cultural Padrinho SOS 2012, como forma de agradecer os padrinhos, parceiros e amigos SOS que têm colaborado com a organização, e por outro lado, fazer o arranque da campanha de Apadrinhamento Nacional.

Tendo como artistas Mirri Lobo, Uziel Sança, Tó Alves, “Bob”, grupo coral SOS da Aldeia Infantil SOS São Domingos, grupo de dança “Mon na Roda”, a noite não era para menos. A banda base composta pelos artistas: Kim Alves (teclado), Kaku (guitarra), Wilson (baixo) e Jorge (bateria e percussão) fizeram brilhar os cantores e foi um espectáculo para os cerca de 500 pessoas que assistiam ao concerto.

Kindergarten Piduca wins the Infantile Games 2012 in São Vicente

The final of XII Edition of Infantile Games in Mindelo was held in 15 June, in the sports courts Oeiras and the winner was kindergarten Piduca. This year about 900 children from almost kindergartens from São Vicente island took part in the event, providing it with glitz and splendour for the Infantile Games organised under the theme “Playing, learn and grow”.

This year the final was disputed among five teams from the following kindergartens: “Piduca”, Good Pastor, St. Francis, “Laidinha Lima” e “Nosso Amiguinho”, and having as the winner the kindergarten Piduca from the site of São Pedro.

Jardim Piduca vence Jogos Infantis 2012 em São Vicente

A final da XII Edição de Jogos Infantis em Mindelo realizou-se no dia 15 de Junho, no polivalente Oeiras, e o vencedor foi Jardim Infantil Piduca. Este ano contamos com uma presença massiva de aproximadamente 900 crianças, provenientes de quase todos os jardins Infantis de São Vicente, imprimindo um outro brilho e fulgor aos Jogos Infantis realizado sob o lema "A jogar e a brincar, aprendemos e crescemos".

Este ano a final foi disputada entre 5 equipas pertencentes aos jardins: Piduca, Bom Pastor, São Francisco, Laidinha Lima e Nosso Amiguinho, tendo como vencedor o Jardim Piduca de São Pedro.

Former President of the Republic Mr Pedro Pires honoured by SOS Cape Verde

The former President of the Republic Pedro Pires was honoured in the morning of 2 of June, in SOS Children’s Village of Assomada, by the National Office of SOS Children’s Villages Cape Verde by its contribution for the setting up of SOS Children’s Villages in Cape Verde.

He does consider that for the honoured is always "interesting" to do a retrospective of the walk made, taking into account that young people of that time, according to Mr Pedro Pires, have evolved and gained their place in the society.

"I am delighted to see that people have grown up and now we are dealing with those who want to take responsibilities in shaping the future of this organization and the future of Cape Verde," said Commander Pedro Pires.

O ex-Presidente da República Pedro Pires foi homenageado na manhã do dia 2 de Junho, na Aldeia Infantil SOS Assomada, pela Direcção Nacional das Aldeias Infantis SOS Cabo Verde pelo seu contributo à implantação das Aldeias Infantis em Cabo Verde.

Para o homenageado é sempre “interessante” fazer uma retrospectiva da caminhada feita, tendo em conta que, os jovens daquela altura, segundo Pedro Pires, já evoluíram e ganharam o seu lugar na sociedade.

“Tenho enorme prazer em ver que as pessoas cresceram e agora estamos a relacionar-nos com os outros que querem assumir uma responsabilidade na construção do futuro dessa organização e no futuro de Cabo Verde”, afirmou o comandante Pedro Pires.

XII Edition of Infantile Games starts in Praia

The Sports Pavilion Vavá Duarte in the city of Praia received on 25 May the opening of the XII Edition of Infantile Games under the slogan "Doing sports, we learn and grow up". The Infantile Games are performed annually from April to June, culminating the closing date with the commemoration of the International Day of the African Child, 16 June.

SOS Social Centre Mindelo performs lecture on Citizenship and Human Rights

In the framework of the celebration of International Day of Families, on 15 May, SOS Social Centre Mindelo performed lecture on “Citizenship and Human Rights for responsible fatherhood and motherhood”.

The lecture was held in the multipurpose room of Social Centre from 2.45 p.m to 4 p.m and it was conducted by psychologist, Mrs. Telma Brito, in representation of MORABI, institution partner of Social Centre.

Centro Social SOS ministra palestra sobre Cidadania e Direitos Humanos

No quadro da celebração do Dia Internacional da Família, 15 de Maio, o Centro Social SOS do Mindelo realizou uma palestra sobre o tema “Cidadania e Direitos Humanos para uma Paternidade e Maternidade Responsáveis”.

A palestra decorreu na sala multiuso do Centro Social, das 14h40 às 16h00, e foi ministrada pela Psicóloga, Sra. Telma Brito, em representação da MORABI, instituição parceira do Centro Social.

Social Centre SOS Mindelo and UNICV minister training in job search

As part of an initiative between Social Centre SOS Mindelo, Employment Centre of Mindelo and the University of Cape Verde (UNICV), it will be held from 7 to 11 May, in Social Centre SOS Mindelo, an action training techniques in job search.

Seventeen trainees are taking part and this training has among other objectives to provide them with skills in identifying, reflecting and evaluating the potential of the labour market as well as deepening of the techniques of preparation for a professional interview. The aim is also to understand the dynamics of the labour market and prepare trainees to perform good curriculum vitae.

Centro Social SOS Mindelo e UNICV ministram formação em técnicas de procura de emprego

No âmbito de uma iniciativa entre o Centro Social do SOS Mindelo, Centro de Emprego do Mindelo e a Universidade de Cabo Verde (UNICV), vai decorrer de 7 a 11 de Maio, no Centro Social SOS do Mindelo, uma ação de formação em técnicas de procura de emprego.

Participam 17 formandos e esta formação tem entre outros objetivos dotá-los de competências na identificação, reflexão e avaliação do potencial do mercado de trabalho, assim como aprofundar das técnicas da preparação para uma entrevista profissional. Pretende-se, ainda, compreender a dinâmica do mercado laboral e preparar os formandos na elaboração de um curriculum vitae.
